As a children’s book creator and educator, I have presented to groups ranging from preschool to graduate level, and can customize my program to suit your needs. Designed for slightly older grades and/or adults, my Zine Workshop is equal parts storytelling, word play and drawing game. It’s a great icebreaker for groups interested in creating narratives that combine words and pictures—as in graphic novels, comics and picture books. But where do you start? Where do ideas come from? And how do you get past creative blocks to put your story on the pages? For more information, click here.

The Zine Workshop is equal parts storytelling, word play and drawing game.

Testimonials

"Anna has shared her wonderful work with my Book Illustration and Advanced Book Illustration classes at MICA. Anna’s presentation and critique is always extremely encouraging to my up and coming book illustrators. I look forward to inviting her back each year.”

—Shadra Strickland, Professor,
Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA)

“Anna’s hands-on workshop gave me an entirely new set of tools to use in my work. As we worked alongside her, she patiently walked us through her process. Anna is warm and generous with her knowledge and teaches with an easy sense of humor. The hours flew by, and I was only disappointed that we didn’t have more time together.”

—Lisa Anchin, Coordinator,
SCBWI New York Metro Chapter

“Anna Raff was simply wonderful with our early childhood classes. Her storytelling mesmerized the littlest ones, and they enjoyed seeing her draw. (We have her drawing hanging in our library.) She was equally engaging when presenting to the Kindergarten and First graders. It is always wonderful for our students to listen and see how an illustrator creates their work.  Thank you, Anna!”

—Tricia Eickelberg, Director of Early Childhood Programs & Chilton House Librarian, Elisabeth Morrow School, NJ

“Anna Raff had a great visit to my classroom.
She read her book A Big Surprise for Little Card and did a wonderful project with the kindergartners, who were engaged the whole time. She answered all their questions and had excellent rapport with the children. I would recommend her to other schools and classrooms for an intriguing author visit.”

—Christine Cincotta, Teacher,
Friends Seminary, NYC
